Darmiyan’s fully automated proprietary software platform inputs human brain MRI and produces maps that detect Alzheimer’s disease up to fifteen years before symptoms. It is impossible to find a cure for Alzheimer’s without early detection, and that’s why drug candidates fail one after another. Their mission is to create a fast, non-invasive, inexpensive, precise and globally accessible tool for brain health screening and monitoring. This will help millions of people worldwide who suffer from brain diseases to be diagnosed early and get treated.

Eidos Therapeutics

Eidos Therapeutics is developing a novel treatment for transthyretin (TTR) amyloidosis (ATTR), a progressive, fatal disease affecting multiple organs including the heart and peripheral nerves. Current treatment options focus on managing the symptoms of the conditions, but do not address the underlying cause of the disease: TTR tetramers destabilized by mutations or age. Eidos’ lead compound, AG10, is a small molecule that binds and stabilizes TTR in the blood, preventing the formation of amyloid and potentially halting progression of the disease. Launched in 2016 after years of research supported by Stanford’s TRAM and SPARK programs, Eidos is led by a team of veteran biotechnology executives. Together with patients and physicians, the company aims to provide a safe, effective treatment for ATTR as quickly as possible.


Scaled Biolabs

Scaled Biolabs accelerates discovery and translation of cell therapies, to improve quality of life through regenerative medicine. Their core technology uses a miniaturized cell culture lab which runs nearly 10,000 experiments in parallel, and an advanced bioinformatics platform that turns single-cell resolution data into deep biological insight. They use this optimization engine to relieve the R&D bottlenecks of companies bringing on complex, advanced medicines such as cell therapies.

The Trace Genomics microbiome sequencing platform enables screening of disease-causing microbes and interpretation of millions of beneficial organisms in the soil. Their machine learning platform enables simple integration of soil microbiome information into with field management information to help farmers identify optimal management conditions that increase soil health and sustainability as well as crop yields. Their innovative technology has received notable media coverage in Forbes, TechCrunch, Wall Street Journal, AgFunder, and Fast Company, and was most recently listed by Forbes as one of the 25 most innovative Ag Tech startups.

Diane Wu, PhD completed a BSc in Computer Science and Molecular Biology at SFU (Vancouver, Canada) and a PhD in Genetics at Stanford University. She was awarded a Stanford Graduate Fellowship and published her thesis on the cover of Nature Structural Molecular Biology, advised by Nobel Laureate Dr. Andrew Fire. Diane then joined the machine learning team at Palantir Technologies as one of their first data scientists, where she built predictive models for healthcare, merchandising, law enforcement, and fraud detection.

Poornima Parameswaran, PhD completed her BS in Molecular Biology at UT Austin, a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology at Stanford University with Nobel Laureate Dr. Andrew Fire, and her postdoctoral fellowship with MacArthur Fellow Dr. Eva Harris at UC Berkeley’s school of Public Health, where she also worked with the Ministry of Health in Nicaragua. She has been an author on eleven publications (371+ citations), where she used NGS technologies in novel ways to address fundamental questions in pathogen-host interactions.

In addition to senior leadership roles at Stanford, including Assistant Dean of the Business School and Associate Vice Provost, Rob has also designed and delivered Stanford programs for scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs around the globe in countries including India, China, Malaysia, Mexico, and Botswana.
